Linus Health Appoints Julie Wood to Senior Medical Director, Clinician Engagement

Former AAFP executive to lead clinician engagement and integration of digital cognitive assessments

Linus Health appointed Julie Wood, MD, MPH, FAAFP, as Senior Medical Director, Clinician Engagement. Wood previously served as a senior executive at the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and brings more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice, public health, and primary care leadership.

In her new role, Wood will oversee clinician engagement efforts related to the adoption of Linus Health’s digital cognitive assessments and AI-enabled tools within health systems. Her responsibilities will include supporting implementation, clinician training, and quality improvement as organizations integrate cognitive assessment tools into routine clinical workflows.

Wood practiced family medicine for nearly two decades and has held leadership roles spanning research, population health, clinical strategy, and physician education. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President for Science and Clinical Strategy at AAFP, where she led scientific research initiatives, public health programs, interprofessional collaboration, and the development of clinical and policy resources for family physicians nationwide. Her work included guiding primary care practices through changes in care models and workflow redesign.

Linus Health stated that the appointment comes as healthcare organizations seek approaches to cognitive assessment that can be used at scale, particularly as new Alzheimer’s treatments enter clinical practice. Health systems have reported interest in tools that support earlier identification of cognitive impairment, reduce delays in evaluation, and integrate into primary care and other clinical settings.

According to the company, Wood will work with clinical leaders across the United States to support the use of structured digital assessments designed to capture cognitive and functional data and inform care pathways. Linus Health’s platform is intended for use across a range of care environments, including high-volume and rural practices.

“Wood’s background in primary care and clinician engagement aligns with the company’s focus on supporting earlier detection and preparation for emerging treatment options, ” said Linus Health CEO and co-founder David Bates, PhD.

Wood is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the University of West Florida. She has been involved in national efforts related to family medicine, public health, and clinical education.
