SAN FRANCISCO, July 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — As health systems increasingly focus on patient engagement and satisfaction, Conversa and Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) are announcing a strategic partnership that gives the Allscripts customer base of more than 2,500 hospitals and health systems access to Conversa’s Conversation Platform™. Conversa’s solution will serve as the patient-facing touchpoint for the Allscripts CareInMotion™ population health management platform. The technology will also be offered as a standalone solution. The collaboration supports Allscripts’ patient engagement and care coordination solutions, and brings enhanced value to its customers.
Historically, it has been difficult for providers to identify, communicate and manage patient populations efficiently. Results from an American Hospital Association survey released earlier this month underscore hospital and health systems’ increased adoption of technology designed to engage patients in their healthcare and enhance patient-provider communication. Representing more than 2,000 U.S. hospitals, forty percent confirmed their organization uses real-time care management services to provide virtual care for patients with chronic conditions. The results prove provider organizations’ recognition of the need for tools that transform the way patients and family members are engaged, educated, and empowered, and a heightened focus on managing healthcare experiences across the care continuum – in hospitals, ambulatory environments, clinics, physician offices, and even at home.
Conversa’s platform enhances how care teams communicate with patients by delivering clinically-intelligent, automated, data-driven conversation experiences. It integrates seamlessly with Allscripts open-platform and vendor-neutral suite of solutions – including Allscripts Care Management™ and Allscripts Care Director™ – improving communications around key health experiences. Specifically, the partnership enables care teams to more effectively engage and manage some of the costliest patient populations – including those with comprehensive joint replacements, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, and hypertension – at a deeper level.
“Our strategic partnership with Conversa will help our clients have more meaningful, personalized and ongoing interactions with their patients,” said Allscripts CEO Paul Black. “We are proud to introduce our clients to a like-minded innovator that is making a significant impact in the market, as we continue our mission to enable smarter care for healthier patients, populations and communities.”
“Conversa’s digital conversation technology complements Allscripts’ suite of population health offerings, uniquely engaging patients between visits,” said West Shell III, Conversa’s CEO and co-founder. “We’re excited to help Allscripts and their provider customers achieve their clinical and business goals by transforming the doctor-patient relationship from one that is episodic to one that is continuous, collaborative and efficient.”
The partnership includes a long-term commercial distribution agreement and participation in Conversa’s Series A funding. Today’s announcement marks another milestone in a year of tremendous growth for Conversa, which includes a Series A funding round led by Northwell Ventures (a division of Northwell Health), expansion of its senior leadership team and Board of Directors, and recent partnership with Healthgrades.
Conversa kicks off a series of industry event appearances next month in Chicago, IL with a prominent presence at the Allscripts Client Experience (ACE) user group conference, taking place August 8-10. Conversa will be a featured partner and speaker at the flagship event, attended by thousands of healthcare organizations and industry leaders.
As healthcare’s conversation platform, Conversa delivers an easy and meaningful way for care teams and patients to communicate. Conversa has an extensive library of clinically-intelligent conversation programs that include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetes, hypertension, joint replacement, and many more. Using Conversa’s innovative and scalable technology, healthcare organizations can deliver automated, personalized doctor-patient conversation experiences that lead to more informed and meaningful patient relationships, effective population management and, ultimately, better clinical and financial outcomes.
