BD Introduces AI-Enabled Platform to Improve Healthcare Connectivity

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has launched the BD Incada™ Connected Care Platform, a scalable, AI-enabled cloud platform designed to unify data across its devices into a single connected ecosystem. The platform debuts alongside the next-generation BD Pyxis™ Pro Automated Medication Dispensing Solution, expanding visibility and connectivity across healthcare systems.

A Unified Approach to Connected Care

According to Bilal Muhsin, Executive Vice President and President of BD Connected Care, the goal of the new platform is to create meaningful data connections across a wide range of clinical and pharmacy devices.

“Our vision for the BD Incada™ Platform is to go beyond legacy connectivity to create meaningful connections across devices from infusion pumps to patient monitors to pharmacy robotics,” Muhsin said. “These launches represent key milestones in BD’s Connected Care strategy, where we are uniquely positioned to leverage technology to drive meaningful benefits for our customers.”

AI and Cloud-Based Analytics

Built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, the BD Incada™ Platform uses AI tools, including natural language search, to help healthcare organizations manage and interpret data from nearly 3 million BD-connected devices.

The platform’s analytics capabilities offer:

  • System-wide visibility into medication inventory to help reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • AI-powered insights that respond to natural language questions, allowing faster access to key metrics.
  • Customizable dashboards enabling clinical teams to act on real-time information.

Smarter and More Secure Medication Management

The BD Pyxis™ Pro Dispensing Solution introduces a modular design with expanded storage options, supporting both refrigerated and ambient medications within the same footprint. The system aims to improve medication access, security, and workflow efficiency at the point of care.

Key features include:

  • Increased storage capacity with up to 538 multi-access or 98 secure pockets in the same space.
  • Enhanced security for controlled substances and improved medication safety.
  • Streamlined access through RFID badge scanning, wireless barcode scanners, and illuminated bins.

Connor Bates, Worldwide President for Medication Management Solutions at BD, noted the longstanding impact of the Pyxis system.

“For over 35 years, the BD Pyxis™ System has been the backbone of medication management across hospitals and health systems,” Bates said. “With the enhanced secure capacity, durability and AI-powered analytics of the next-generation BD Pyxis™ Pro, we’re ushering in a new era for medication management.”

Toward Data-Driven Healthcare Operations

Together, the BD Incada™ Connected Care Platform and BD Pyxis™ Pro Dispensing Solution aim to improve connectivity, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making across healthcare settings, supporting BD’s broader Connected Care strategy.
