Altera Digital Health Introduces TouchWorks Note+ to Reduce Documentation Burden for Independent Providers

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Altera Digital Health has launched TouchWorks Note+, an ambient listening and note generation solution designed to help independent healthcare providers save time, improve documentation accuracy, and enhance patient engagement. The tool is fully integrated with TouchWorks® EHR and represents the latest step in Altera’s broader investment in artificial intelligence and EHR workflow modernization.
TouchWorks Note+ combines multiple input methods—including ambient listening, voice dictation, text entry, and pre-set macros—into structured, codified data for clinical and billing purposes. The AI-enabled system securely records conversations during patient visits and automatically generates a complete draft note, which providers can review and finalize after the encounter.
Because it is directly embedded in TouchWorks EHR, the solution eliminates the need for separate logins or duplicate data entry, standardizing documentation across visits and supporting more accurate coding. Its proprietary AI coordination platform allows Altera to use current and future large language models (LLMs) to ensure efficient, specialty-specific data processing.
“As a practicing physician, I know firsthand the toll documentation can take on clinical time and cognitive load,” said Dr. Jeanne Armstrong, Chief Medical Officer for TouchWorks EHR at Altera Digital Health. “TouchWorks Note+ reimagines the provider experience, allowing clinicians to stay present with patients while the technology works behind the scenes. It’s not just about documentation efficiency—it’s about restoring the human connection between provider and patient.”
TouchWorks Note+ is the first in a series of AI-driven developments from Altera aimed at giving clinicians more time for direct patient care and less time navigating technology.
