Behavioral health organization utilizes Pings and Spotlights solutions for enhanced care management that enables whole person care
Bamboo Health, formerly Appriss Health and PatientPing, a healthcare technology solutions company focused on fostering care collaboration and providing information and actionable insights across the entire continuum of care, announced today that Monarch, a North Carolina statewide provider of comprehensive specialty mental health and human services, has expanded the scope of their partnership to include a Pings’ solution pilot for real-time admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) e-notifications whenever patients experience care events. Their initial partnership began in 2019 with Monarch’s integration of the Spotlights solution for interactive, real-time dashboards of the high-priority performance metrics to track operational trends.
The launch of the Pings pilot was facilitated by The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) 2021 Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) Expansion Grant that was awarded to Monarch. The CCBHC Expansion Grant program was designed to provide access to health services including 24/7 crisis intervention for individuals with serious mental illness or substance use disorders, including opioid use disorders; children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance; and individuals with co-occurring mental and substance disorders.
In preparation for the July 1, 2021 North Carolina (NC) Medicaid Managed Care program launch, Monarch also expanded its Bamboo Health partnership for a 10x patient roster increase. The NC Medicaid Managed Care program was created to build systems to share data across organizations. It also puts the health of beneficiaries at the forefront by establishing a payment structure that rewards better health outcomes, integrates physical and behavioral health, and invests in non-medical interventions aimed at reducing costs and improving the health of Medicaid beneficiaries.
“The healthcare landscape is changing rapidly to better support patients and quality health outcomes. Monarch is proud to have a partner like Bamboo Health that can directly support our organization’s strategy to comply with new government initiatives that can better serve our patients,” said Peggy Terhune Ph.D., CEO at Monarch. “The Pings and Spotlights solutions allow Monarch to scale how we manage our mental health patient populations by giving our care teams a real-time look at performance trends and the ability to drill down to the patient-level for a root-cause analysis that will support process-improvement initiatives.”
Bamboo Health’s network connects social and human service agencies, urgent cares, and behavioral health organizations among others. More than 2,500 hospitals, 37 payers, 7,800 post-acute facilities, 25,000 pharmacies, and 45 state governments, and hundreds of other providers such as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are integrated to seamlessly connect providers for well-coordinated patient care.
“Bamboo Health is grateful to assist our innovative behavioral health partners like Monarch as they work to integrate new government initiatives that can lower costs of care, facilitate patient data sharing, and ultimately improve patient health outcomes,” said Rob Cohen, president and general manager of Bamboo Health. “Often, patients can be admitted to an in-patient unit that does not notify their mental health care teams, which results in changes to their medication regimens or treatment plans. Bamboo Health is now helping Monarch be aware of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, so they can participate in discharge planning and better support their individualized care journey.”
Bamboo Health will host a webinar in partnership with Monarch to share how the Pings solution has amplified Monarch’s ability to track their patients with the real-time notifications on Wednesday, September 29 from 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. ET.
