Altera Digital Health and Health Gorilla Partner to Enhance EHR Interoperability

Altera Digital Health and Health Gorilla have announced a strategic partnership aimed at improving
interoperability and data exchange for healthcare providers. The collaboration focuses on
integrating Health Gorilla’s national interoperability network into Altera’s Sunrise™ electronic health
record (EHR) platform, enabling clinicians to access more complete and timely patient data within
their existing workflows.
Integration to Support Clinical Decision-Making
The partnership will allow users of Sunrise EHR—primarily mid-size hospitals and health systems—to
directly access structured patient data such as lab results, medication history, past encounters, and
social determinants of health. This integration aims to streamline clinical workflows by eliminating
the need for manual data gathering or reliance on external portals.
“This partnership is about clearing a path to better care,” said Jay Adams, Executive Vice President of
Sunrise at Altera Digital Health. “It’s not just about interoperability for its own sake—it’s about
removing the barriers that slow clinicians down. Our work with Health Gorilla is a direct investment
in reducing friction, surfacing meaningful data, and giving providers the tools they need to make
clinical decisions with confidence.”
Expanding a National Network
By joining Health Gorilla’s network, Altera adds its EHR platform to a list of other health IT vendors
including MEDITECH, MEDHOST, ResMed, and Canvas Medical. The partnership supports secure data
exchange across diverse healthcare organizations and aligns with federal mandates aimed at
improving interoperability and patient data access.
According to Bob Watson, CEO of Health Gorilla, “Providers still struggle with fragmented data that
slows down care and burdens decision-making. By embedding our QHIN-enabled connectivity into
the Sunrise EHR, Altera is taking a significant step toward making comprehensive health data
securely available at the point of care—supporting faster, more accurate decisions and better-
coordinated outcomes.”
Supporting Regulatory Compliance and Value-Based Care
In addition to simplifying access to patient information, the integration is expected to help
healthcare organizations meet federal interoperability requirements. It also provides the
infrastructure to support participation in value-based care programs, which rely on comprehensive,
real-time data to improve outcomes and reduce costs.
