TISSIUM Receives CE Mark for ECLIPSIUM Hernia Repair Solution
New technology aims to reduce tissue damage and pain from traditional mesh fixation
TISSIUM has received European CE marking for ECLIPSIUM, a technology designed to secure surgical mesh during minimally invasive hernia repair without penetrating tissue.
Unlike traditional tacks and sutures, ECLIPSIUM uses a light-activated, bioabsorbable polymer to secure mesh while minimizing tissue trauma.
For patients, the approach could mean less pain and an easier recovery. A surgeon involved in the European clinical study reported that patients were treated in a day-care setting rather than staying in the hospital for one or two days.
The approval marks the second regulatory clearance for TISSIUM’s polymer technology, following U.S. authorization of its nerve repair product, COAPTIUM CONNECT, in 2025.
TISSIUM expects to introduce ECLIPSIUM in Europe in 2027 and is advancing clinical studies in the United States.
