Strive Health Appoints Dr. Kavita Patel to Board

Strive Health, a leader in value-based kidney care, today announced that Kavita Patel, M.D., has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Dr. Patel is a primary care physician at Mary’s Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Washington, D.C., and a non-resident Fellow in the Department of Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution, one of the nation’s premier research and thought leadership organizations.

“Dr. Patel is a well-regarded authority across healthcare sectors,” said Chris Riopelle, CEO, Strive Health. “Her deep experience will be a tremendous resource as Strive Health continues its growth in delivering transformative, value-based kidney care that improves peoples’ lives. We are excited to welcome Dr. Patel to our Board.”

At the Brookings Institution, Dr. Patel is helping healthcare systems understand how to transform clinical environments to become more accountable for the care they provide as well as other aspects of health reform implementation. Dr. Patel frequently provides expert commentary to radio and print media outlets, including National Public Radio, CBS, Newsweek and MarketWatch. She also served the Obama Administration as Director of Policy for the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement in the White House, where she played a key role in designing healthcare reform legislation. As deputy staff director on health for late Senator Edward Kennedy, she served as a policy analyst and a senior staff member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee.

“Kidney disease impacts a substantial percentage of U.S. adults, and that percentage continues to grow,” said Dr. Patel. “Strive Health’s dedication to and knowledge of the challenges people face with this chronic condition has enabled it to innovate on the current treatment approach. I am honored to join the Board and look forward to collaborating with the team.”

Kidney disease impacts 37 million Americans, most of whom are unaware they have it. A proactive, value-based approach is required for earlier intervention that promotes patient health and well-being. Strive Health integrates technology, including proprietary machine learning algorithms, and clinical infrastructure to improve health outcomes for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

Earlier this month, Strive Health also announced the appointment of Brandi Riddle as Chief Financial Officer. The company believes that transformational outcomes in kidney care are only possible through authentic diversity at all levels.
