SnapMD’s award-winning virtual care software platform will be provided to the organization’s 66,000 members
SnapMD, a full-service enterprise telehealth technology innovator and solutions provider, announced today that through an arrangement with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), SnapMD will provide its Virtual Care Management (VCM) telehealth platform as part of the AAP Member Advantage Program. The AAP program includes 66,000 pediatricians, surgeons, and specialists nationwide. SnapMD’s VCM software enables pediatric practices to offer virtual visits to their patients as a complement to traditional in-person care.
Virtual pediatric patient visits can improve care, enhance outcomes, and lower costs while delivering greater patient and clinician satisfaction. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of children age 0 to 17 in the United States is expected to reach 74.1 million by 2020 and nearly 80 million by 2050, and the number of pediatric medical and surgical specialists and sub-specialists is continuing to drop. With the number of primary care pediatricians approaching retirement age continuing to rise, according to the AAP, the demand for pediatric physicians and specialists will continue to far outstrip the supply. Virtual visits can fill the gap by connecting pediatric patients with care, enabling providers to reduce missed appointments, increase adherence to recommended therapies, and help ensure the appropriate frequency of recommended physician visits.
“This new Member Advantage Program directly addresses concerns cited by our members regarding a lack of information about quality telemedicine vendors and the high cost of telemedicine equipment. Wehope that this program benefit will encourage more pediatricians to provide telehealth services to the families they serve within the context of their medical home,” said Joshua J. Alexander, MD, FAAP, FAAPMR, Chair of the AAP Section on Telehealth.
SnapMD’s VCM full-stack platform offers pediatric practices a complete solution to easily launch virtual visits under their own brand and using their own clinicians. The VCM digital exam room provides all the tools needed to engage patients during the diagnostic, active treatment and follow-up phases of care, and to document the encounters. The VCM system serves as a digital hub for scalable virtual care that allows healthcare providers to deliver convenient and timely care to their pediatric patients wherever and whenever they need it.
“SnapMD was created to improve access to and convenience of healthcare,” said Dave Skibinski, president and CEO of SnapMD. “We are proud to participate in the AAP Member Advantage Program and empower pediatricians, surgeons, and specialists nationwide in delivering care remotely to their patients through virtual visits, ensuring better access to high-quality and timely care to improve outcomes and reduce the total cost of care.”
