Hinge Health Introduces AI-Powered Tools for Movement Analysis and Member Support

San Francisco, CA — Hinge Health (NYSE: HNGE) has announced two new AI-enabled care tools designed to enhance musculoskeletal (MSK) care and member engagement. The company also released a set of AI care principles outlining its approach to responsible and transparent AI development.

The new tools — Movement Analysis, powered by computer vision, and Robin, an AI Care Assistant — aim to improve how MSK outcomes are measured and how members receive personalized support throughout their care journey.

“Our thoughtful investments in AI are transforming how our members experience care,” said Daniel Perez, Co-Founder and CEO of Hinge Health. “Movement Analysis and Robin are the latest examples of how we’re using technology to make care more accessible, personalized, and effective.”

AI-Driven Movement Analysis for Outcome Tracking

Traditional MSK outcome measurements often rely on subjective self-reported assessments. Hinge Health’s new Movement Analysis tool uses TrueMotion® computer vision technology to objectively capture metrics such as joint angles, symmetry, and endurance as members perform guided movements.

These objective measurements are combined with targeted self-reported inputs to generate Hinge Scores — composite indicators of joint health. The data gives members visibility into their progress over time and helps clinicians gain a comprehensive view of recovery patterns to make more informed treatment decisions.

Robin: The AI Care Assistant

Hinge Health is also expanding its virtual care model with Robin, an AI Care Assistant that complements its team of clinicians, physical therapists, nurses, and health coaches.

Robin’s first function is to detect and respond to pain flare-ups, a common occurrence in MSK care. When a flare-up is detected, Robin collects relevant details, shares resources, and provides a summary to the member’s physical therapist — helping accelerate follow-up care.

The company says future versions of Robin will handle additional tasks, such as answering common questions, offering insights, and proactively checking in with members to support ongoing engagement.

Commitment to Responsible AI

Hinge Health emphasized that responsible AI development is central to its strategy. The company outlined three guiding commitments:

  • AI that is thoughtfully designed
  • AI that is built responsibly
  • AI that complements human care

These commitments are supported by principles emphasizing ethical use, privacy and security, transparency, and continuous improvement.
