Eight Sleep Secures $100 Million to Advance AI-Powered Sleep Optimization and Expand into Medical Applications

New York – August 2025 — Sleep technology company Eight Sleep has raised $100 million in new funding to accelerate the development of its AI-powered sleep platform, expand into medical use cases, and grow its global presence, including entry into China. Investors in the round include HSG, Valor Equity Partners, Atreides, Founders Fund, Y Combinator, and sports figures Charles Leclerc (Ferrari F1 Driver) and Zak Brown (CEO of McLaren F1).

Since launching its flagship Pod system, Eight Sleep reports more than $500 million in sales, a tenfold increase in revenue, and over 1 billion hours of sleep data analyzed. Its products combine hardware, software, AI, and supplements to create personalized sleep environments for users in more than 30 countries.

“This new funding enables us to accelerate the deployment of AI for sleep optimization, expand into medical applications like menopausal sleep and sleep apnea, and bring our technology to millions of people around the world,” said Matteo Franceschetti, Co-Founder and CEO of Eight Sleep.

Building an AI Agent for Sleep

The company plans to use the funding to develop what it calls the world’s first AI-powered Sleep Agent, designed to go beyond tracking and deliver real-time, personalized optimization.

The Sleep Agent will interpret biometric data, simulate thousands of digital twins per user, and predict outcomes using advanced modeling. Based on these simulations, the system will adjust variables such as temperature, elevation, and bedtime routines to support recovery and sleep quality.

This builds on Eight Sleep’s existing Autopilot feature, which already makes nightly adjustments based on user behavior and biofeedback.

“We’re creating digital twins of your sleep physiology to simulate, test, and personalize your recovery before you even close your eyes,” Franceschetti explained. “This is the next frontier: AI that doesn’t just track you, it understands and adapts to you in real time.”

Expanding into Medical Applications

Eight Sleep is also targeting the medical market. Its Pod already monitors cardiovascular and respiratory patterns with up to 99% accuracy, and the company is pursuing FDA approval for new use cases.

Initial efforts include:

  • Menopausal sleep: A new Hot Flash Mode feature uses dynamic cooling to reduce symptoms.
  • Sleep apnea: Development of AI-driven interventions using contactless biometric monitoring and automated adjustments.

Global Growth

The company, which already ships to more than 30 countries, plans to expand further with entry into China, alongside existing markets in Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, Mexico, and the UAE.
