West Virginia Hospital launches MEDITECH as a Service, a cloud-based EHR subscription
MEDITECH, one of the industry’s leading Enterprise Health Record (EHR) vendors, is pleased to announce that Williamson Memorial Hospital (WMH) has gone LIVE with MaaS, or MEDITECH as a Service. After the initial signing in January, MEDITECH successfully implemented MaaS in the accelerated time frame of six months, one of the many attractive features of the subscription offering. MaaS is MEDITECH’s answer to health systems wanting the advantages of a modern, sophisticated EHR without the burden of heavy IT responsibilities and hardware maintenance.
Located in Williamson, WV, WMH was determined to find the right solution to meet the needs of both its staff, and the community it serves. With MaaS increasing organizational efficiency, this allows for more focus to be placed on patient care and connecting with the community. As this was a major focus of WMH, in addition to rolling out MaaS internally, they introduced MEDITECH’s Patient and Consumer Health Portal to the community — an intuitive, all-encompassing tool that conveniently allows the patient to take an active role in their own care.
“Williamson’s decision to partner with MEDITECH and deploy MaaS was rooted in our vision to have a truly centralized health record,” said Charlie Hatfield, CEO and co-owner at Williamson Memorial Hospital. “In addition to the clinical benefits of a sophisticated health system, and removing the stress off of our IT department, we are excited to be launching a user-friendly patient portal to allow the community to actively participate in their own healthcare.”
MEDITECH’s Executive Vice President Helen Waters acknowledged the impact MaaS is having on meeting WMH’s patient-centric goals.
“We are so glad to see Williamson going LIVE with MaaS and realizing the vision they set out for themselves when they first partnered with MEDITECH,” says Waters. “We understand how important it is for clinicians to have the right tools to care for and connect with their patients, so they can truly be community-focused. With MaaS, Williamson has everything they need in an intuitive, web-based EHR, as well as a convenient, user-friendly patient portal.”
