Teladoc Joins Health IT Now Steering Committee

Health IT Now confirmed to MHW this week that it has a new Steering Committee member, Teladoc, Inc.

“We are thrilled that Teladoc is joining our broad coalition of stakeholders,” says Robert Horne, Executive Director of Health IT Now in a provided statement.

“Our coalition believes that technology can create new opportunities for health plans and government programs to increase access to care and lower costs,” Horne adds. “Teladoc’s business model is impressive, and adds to our effectiveness as an organization going forward. We expect Teladoc to play a prominent role in our efforts to expand awareness of technology-driven care delivery in Washington. Their expertise and experience fits nicely with that of our existing membership, and we look forward to working with them to pursue what is shaping up to be a robust 2017 agenda.”

If you’re not familiar, Health IT Now (HITN) is a broad based coalition of patient groups, provider organizations, employers, and payers that supports incentives to deploy health information technology to improve care, patient outcomes, and to lower costs.

“Becoming a member of the Health IT Now Steering Committee is another opportunity for Teladoc to leverage our voice and success at working for good public policy surrounding telemedicine,” adds Dr. Henry DePhillips, Teladoc chief medical officer. “As the industry leader, we have an obligation to be on the front lines to work with organizations and policy makers to help craft legislation and regulations that improve access, improve health care outcomes and decrease costs. We look forward to working closely with Health IT Now to accomplish this at the federal level.”
