Qualcomm Announces Collaboration with VRI to Power Scalable Chronic Care Management Solution

Qualcomm to showcase its technology platforms and provide keynote address at mHealth Summit 2015

Qualcomm Incorporated today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Life, Inc., is collaborating with VRI to develop chronic care management solutions powered by Qualcomm Life’s 2netTM Platform. The company will leverage the 2net Platform and Hub to seamlessly and securely transfer biometric data into their existing remote patient monitoring programs. The collaboration was announced at the seventh annual mHealth Summit, taking place November 8 through November 11, 2015, in Washington, D.C.

“We are excited to continue growing our ecosystem and working with innovative companies like VRI,” said Rick Valencia, senior vice president and general manager, Qualcomm Life. “Together, we are helping shape a new standard of care for chronic care management and remote patient monitoring. This post-acute care segment is exceptionally important for improving outcomes and reducing unnecessary hospitalizations.”

VRI, a health care services company with more than 25 years of experience in health monitoring, is one of the largest providers of telemonitoring, medication adherence and medical alert systems in the country. VRI’s monitoring services enable seniors, the chronically ill and people with disabilities to maintain their independence and avoid long-term care facilities and hospitalization. The program includes patients with diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, COPD and asthma. VRI selected Qualcomm Life as their preferred long-term vendor, and plan to scale their remote monitoring programs leveraging Qualcomm Life’s 2net Platform and open ecosystem approach, ultimately enabling the company to reach millions of patients living with chronic conditions.

“Qualcomm Life’s open ecosystem approach and leadership in wireless health care will allow VRI to scale our remote monitoring programs with large customers and populations,” said Chris Hendriksen, CEO, VRI. “By expanding our collaboration to include Qualcomm Life as a preferred vendor, we are able to offer remote monitoring services to more patients who can benefit the most – the chronically ill – to help improve outcomes and reduce overall costs.”
