Olive Debuts Solution to Improve Patient Outreach with Automated Messages

Olive-enabled solution automates patient outreach to improve population health

Olive, the automation company creating the Internet of Healthcare, announced the release of Care Campaigns, an automated patient communication and outreach solution. Care Campaigns is the latest addition to the Olive Library, helping hospitals and health systems to close care gaps with ready-to-use campaigns.

In the wake of the pandemic, far too many patients have skipped important care moments – from routine doctor’s appointments to important screenings, such as mammograms. Care Campaigns aims to reduce the harmful long-term effects of forgone care by reaching the right time through accessible channels.

In the last two years, 41 percent of patients skipped care. Olive is changing the statistics with this unique solution built on Olive’s platform for healthcare providers connecting with patients using automated personalized messages, aimed at driving patient action and visits with their providers. According to the American College of Physicians, higher rates of patient engagement lead to better health outcomes and providers receiving proven results including more effective visits, better quality metrics, and higher reimbursement rates.

Gundersen Health System, an integrated healthcare organization serving counties in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa is the first U.S. health system to deploy Care Campaigns. Since launching Olive’s Care Campaigns solution, Gundersen has seen impressive results: 40 percent response rate with 18 percent re-engagement rate for patients that were overdue for care across more than 170,000 primary care patients in the first eight months.

“Olive has been a great partner in innovation to help solve problems in the clinical arena using creative solutions,” said Dr. Rajiv Naik, Medical Director of Informatics, Gundersen Health System. “Understanding and maintaining accurate patient panels and establishing an effective engagement platform is the foundation upon which we are building automations, patient engagement strategies, care gap campaigns and other creative solutions to improve the health of our patients.”

Care Campaigns will integrate with existing offerings from Olive, enabling providers to coordinate patient communication from scheduling appointments to patient billing and everything in between. The solution also comes with out-of-the-box campaigns for top care gaps, including: mammogram screenings; colorectal cancer screenings; transition of care; Covid vaccine administration; advanced care planning; preventive care reminders; and diabetic eye exams.

“Health systems across the country want to better understand their patient population and provide preventive care, yet the use of automated letters and hospital portals to communicate with patients is often ineffective,” said Rohan D’Souza, Chief Product Officer of Olive. “Through careful collaboration and thoughtful process automation updates, we’re helping healthcare providers engage in impactful patient outreach to improve outcomes.
