Boca Raton, Fla. – June 6, 2017 – Specialty-specific health information technology leader, Modernizing Medicine, Inc., announced that as of March 31, 2017, it submitted a total of 3,438 providers’ 2016 Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The majority were submitted via the company’s PQRS qualified registry.
Approximately 95 percent of the clients whose data were submitted met the PQRS minimum requirements. Using Modernizing Medicine’s flagship solution, EMA™, the company’s cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) system, physicians entered patient data into the native iPad application at the point of care, and then the EHR system calculated the PQRS measure data automatically. EMA’s built-in PQRS functionality saved time by eliminating the need for physicians or staff to enter data into third party systems for submission.
“Having PQRS functionality in EMA helped lower unnecessary administrative burdens for doctors and their practices, reducing physician burnout,” shares Michael Sherling, MD, MBA, co-founder and chief medical officer at Modernizing Medicine. “At each clinical encounter, physicians could view measures that patients were eligible for without extra clicks, based on an algorithm using underlying structured data, and adjust performance criteria as medically indicated. Since before the advent of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) and the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Modernizing Medicine also offered advisory services to assist physicians and their practices in meeting the requirements of Meaningful Use and PQRS. PQRS will not be continued in 2017, and has been replaced by MIPS. Modernizing Medicine’s strong track record helps bolster its leadership position by supporting clients’ compliance mandates with its new MIPS qualified registry. Similar to the technology that led to client’s PQRS success rates, the system also enables providers to enter data once and submit to CMS without leaving EMA.
