Anthem, Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) and CareEvolution announced today their collaboration to make the cFHR™ (collaborative Family Health Record) app available for Apple Watch. The cFHR™ app, available now as a free download from the App Store on iPhone, will be one of the first apps available for Apple Watch at the launch of the device on April 24, 2015.
The cFHR™ Apple Watch app will seamlessly connect consumers to their health care providers and Anthem’s family of health plans and provide consumers with actionable health and wellness notifications. The app is designed to make it convenient and simple for consumers to receive alerts, review new medical information and manage their health care from their wrist. Consumers would be notified of suggested preventive screenings, gaps in disease management and prescription refills, and potential drug interactions – consider it a tap on the wrist reminder.
“Anthem is investing in the technologies and innovations that will empower consumers to make more informed health care decisions, provide them with convenient, intuitive tools and help them take the lead in their own health and well-being,” said Tim Skeen, vice president information systems, Marketplace Solutions, Anthem, Inc. “This collaboration with CareEvolution reinforces Anthem’s commitment to innovation and showcases how it helps improve how care is delivered and how benefits are administered.”
With more than 37 million customers in Anthem’s family of companies, Anthem has the scale and footprint to significantly impact how Americans track and manage their health and well-being. The cFHR™ Apple Watch app provides a more complete health picture for consumers and will enable them to live healthier lives.
“The industry is at a crossroads where consumers and technology are intersecting to create a new paradigm for managed health care. Consumers want autonomy over their health choices and wearable technologies are making that increasingly possible,” said Thomas Miller, senior vice president and CIO, Anthem, Inc. “Anthem is committed to developing innovative solutions and partnerships that deliver the empowerment and value consumers are looking for.”
The cFHR™ Watch App works seamlessly with the existing Apple HealthKit enabled iPhone cFHR™ app to give providers and consumers access to their medical history in one unified record. By leveraging Apple HealthKit, the cFHR™ platform enables care managers access to consumer health, fitness and diet information.
CareEvolution will be previewing the new application this week at the Interoperability Showcase at the HIMSS 2015 conference in Chicago, Illinois.
