2016 ExoMed™ Conference Registration Now Open

What if the next medical breakthrough isn’t on the planet Earth? This is one of the important and fascinating questions that will be discussed at the third annual 2016 ExoMed™ Conference on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, California from 8:30am – 4:00pm.

This annual event brings together scientists, space professionals, investors and entrepreneurs to discuss recent experiments, findings, emerging ideas and future missions surrounding Exomedicine … defined as the research, development and commercialization of medical solutions in the microgravity environment of space for applications on Earth.

“With the rapid advancement of micro-technologies and greatly expanded access to space, we now have an unprecedented opportunity to study and undertake novel R&D involving living organisms and disease processes in microgravity on the International Space Station (ISS) for benefits on Earth,” said Kris Kimel, conference organizer and founder of the Exomedicine Institute. Presentations and subjects for discussion will include neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, cancer, drug design, regenerative medicine and bioengineering and manufacturing in space.

The featured presenter is astronaut David Wolf MD EE (AstronautDavidWolf.com). Dr. Wolf has logged 168 days, 12 hours, 56 minutes and 04 seconds in space over four separate missions (including seven spacewalks), was NASA Inventor of the Year (1992), NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal (1990), holds 17 patents for 3-dimensional tissue engineering methods (Earth and Space based).

The 2016 ExoMed Conference’s presenting sponsors are the Exomedicine Institute and Space Tango, Inc., a for-profit company that innovates in space for solutions on Earth. Other sponsors include Kentucky Space, FedEx, Kentucky Life Science Council, CASIS, Kentucky Innovation Network and media partner San Diego Business Journal.
